Our Duty –  Jeremiah Burroughs

Our Duty –  Jeremiah Burroughs

Now what am I to do? What can I think now are those duties that God requires of me in the circumstances that he has now put me into?  Let me exert my strength to perform the duties of my present circumstances. Others spend their thoughts on things that disturb and disquiet them, and so they grow more and more discontented. Let me spend my thoughts in thinking what my duty is, what is the duty of my present circumstances which I am in?

Shake Before Using – Vance Havner

Shake Before Using – Vance Havner

Sometimes your medicine bottle has on it, “Shake well before using.” That is what God has to do with some of His people. He has to shake them well before they are ever usable.

God at work on us – David Wilkerson

God at work on us – David Wilkerson

We are so busy working for God, we forget He is trying to work on us. That is what this life is all about: God at work on us, trying to remake us into vessels of glory.

Prayer yields more than work – Andrew Murray

Prayer yields more than work – Andrew Murray

Time spent in prayer will yield more than that given to work. Prayer alone gives work its worth and its success. Prayer opens the way for God Himself to do His work in us and through us. Let our chief work, as God’s messengers, be intercession; in it, we secure the presence and power of God to go with us.

Principles and Practices – Jonathan Edwards

Principles and Practices – Jonathan Edwards

People are very apt to bring their principles to their practices and not their practices to their principles, as they ought to do. They, in their practice, do not comply with their consciences; all their strife is about bringing their consciences to comply with their practice.
