The Lord cannot forget you. If you stood before God in your own righteousness, then I see how you might be separated from His love and care. But you stand before Him in Christ, and Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. You will be held in everlasting remembrance. The world may forget you, your friends may forget you; this is a forgetting world. You may not have a tombstone over your grave, but God will not forget you.

You will never find Jesus so precious as when the world is one vast howling wilderness. Then he is like a rose blooming in the midst of the desolation, a rock rising above the storm.

As I was walking in the fields, the thought came over me with almost overwhelming power, that every one of my flock must soon be in heaven or hell. Oh how I wished that I had a tongue like thunder, that I might make all hear.

Christ may be called the key-stone of the arch of truth. Take away the key-stone of an arch, and the whole becomes a heap of rubbish. The very same stones may be there, but they are all fallen, smothered, and confused, without order, without end. Just so, take Christ away, and the whole arch of truth becomes a heap of rubbish. The very same truths may be there; but they are all fallen, without coherence, without order, without end. Christ may be called the sun of the of the system of truth. Take away the sun out of our system, and every planet would rush into confusion … Just so, take Christ away, and the whole system of truth rushes into confusion.

A holy minister is an awful weapon in the hand of God. A word spoken by you when your conscience is clear, and your heart full of God’s Spirit, is worth ten thousand words spoken in unbelief and sin.

Dear friends, you may have awakenings, enlightenings, experiences, a full heart in prayers, and many signs, but if ye lack holiness, you will never see the Lord. A real desire after complete holiness is the truest mark of having been born again. The Saviour first covers the soul with His white raiment, then makes the soul glorious within – restores the lost image of God, and fills the soul with pure heavenly holiness. Unregenerate men among you cannot bear this.

Do get on with your studies.  Remember you are now forming the character of your future ministry, if God spare you.  If you acquire slovenly or sleepy habits of study now, you will never get the better of it.  Do everything in earnest.  Above all, keep much in the presence of God.  Never see the face of man till you have seen His face who is our life, our all

Learn that urgency in prayer does not so much consist in vehement pleading, as in vehement believing. He that believes most the love and power of Jesus will obtain the most in prayer.

A man is what he is on his knees before God, and nothing more.
