Adherence to Christ – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Adherence to Christ – Dietrich Bonhoeffer

Discipleship means adherence to Christ, and, because Christ is the object of that adherence, it must take the form of discipleship.  An abstract Christology, a doctrinal system, a general religious knowledge on the subject of grace or on the forgiveness of sins, render discipleship superfluous.

Consummation of an Atoning Savior – Charles Spurgeon

Consummation of an Atoning Savior – Charles Spurgeon

That God might be manifested in the Christ, it may even be that sin was permitted. Assuredly, there could have been no sacrifice on Calvary if there had not first of all been sin in Eden. The whole scheme, the whole of God’s decrees and acts, worked up to the consummation of an atoning Savior.
