No Weapon in Your Hand But the Story of the Cross – Charles Spurgeon

We are armed with the word of God, not only that we may smite our own spiritual foes, but that we may win men for Christ. As the Israelites had to conquer Canaan, so have we to conquer the world for Jesus. Go ye up against the ramparts of error, go ye up against the hosts of evil, with no weapon in your hand but the story of the cross, the revelation of the Most High, the declaration of the gospel of Jesus, for by this sign we conquer; it is impossible that we should fail with the gospel in our hands.

Unity Delights the Heart Of God – RA Torrey

True Christian unity is one of the greatest, one of the grandest, one of the most glorious, one of the divinest, one of the most beneficent things on earth. It is the life of God the Father and the Son reproduced in the Church. It greatly delights the heart of God.

Pray Often – John Bunyan

Pray often, for prayer is a shield to the soul, a sacrifice to God, and a scourge for Satan.

Hiding Behind the Bible – Anonymous Convert

I went to hear Mr. Moody with no other idea than to have something to laugh at. I knew he was no scholar, and I felt sure I could find many flaws in his argument. But I found I could not get at the man. He stood there hiding behind the Bible and just fired one Bible text after another at me till they went home to my heart straight as bullets from a rifle. I tell you, Moody’s power is in the way he has his Bible at the tip of his tongue.

Don’t build the Ark wider but go Deeper – Leonard Ravenhill

Every magazine I pick up now, Christian magazine, is how to make your church grow. I’m looking for one that says how to take your church deeper! Somebody said to a preacher, “You’ve the biggest church in… How big is your church?” He answered, “Three miles wide and an inch deep”. I think that’s true of a lot of them. Three miles wide and an inch deep. And while it’s humorous, it’s tragic! Are we going to change the style? Are we going to keep steadying the ark? Are we going to say, “No, no, no. We are not going any further like this. We are not going with this cart you’ve got it on. We are going to do it God’s way.”

The Desire of Every Great Soul Winner – Samuel Brengle

It is said that Sheridan went to battle with all the fury of a madman, and recklessly exposed himself to the shot and shell of the enemy. He told General Horace Porter that he never went into a battle from which he cared to come back alive unless he came as a victor. This desperation made him an irresistible inspiration to his own troops, and enabled him to hurl them like thunderbolts against his foes. If he became so desperate in killing men, how much more desperate, if possible, should we become in our effort and desire to save them!

It was written of Jesus, “The zeal of Thine house hath eaten me up,” and so it can be of every great soul-winner.

As Valuable As Air – John Wesley

God’s command to “pray without ceasing” is founded on the necessity we have of his grace to preserve the life of God in the Soul, which can no more subsist one moment without it, than the body can without air.

Mother coming out With a Face of Moses – Esther Edwards

My Daddy conversed with me sweetly about communion with the lord as we rode on our horses through the bushes today. My Mother came out of her prayer closet and her face was shining like the face of Moses as it is everyday when she’s been alone with God.
