Giving

A New Version of Christianity – Cal Thomas

It is now possible to live a “christian life” without doing the things that Jesus commanded us to do. “We have hired people to go into all the world, to visit those in prison, to feed the hungry, to clothe the naked, to care for widows and orphans. The average Christian doesn’t have to do it.

George Müller on Giving

Fix even the smallest amount you purpose to give of your income, and give this regularly … If you neglect in habitual giving, a regular giving, a giving principle based upon Scriptural grounds, and leave it only to feeling and impulse, or particular arousing circumstances, you will certainly be a loser.

George Müller on Giving Money

Only fix even the smallest amount you purpose to give of your income, and give this regularly; and as God is pleased to increase your light and grace, and is pleased to prosper you more, so give more. If you neglect in habitual giving, a regular giving, a giving principle based upon Scriptural grounds, and leave it only to feeling and impulse, or particular arousing circumstances, you will certainly be a loser.

Christ’s Treasury – Thomas Brooks

Whatsoever we scatter to the poor, we gather for ourselves. Not getting, but giving. … The poor man’s hand is Christ’s treasury, Christ’s bank. Oh let not Christ’s hand and Christ’s treasury be empty!

Don’t Draw Back Before The Sacrifice – François Colliard

If you could only know what one feels on finding oneself … where the least ray of the Gospel has not penetrated! If those friends who blame … could see from afar what we see, and feel what we feel, they would be the first to wonder that those redeemed by Christ should be so backward in devotion and know so little of the spirit of self-sacrifice. They would be ashamed of the hesitations that hinder us. … We must remember that it was not by interceding for the world in glory that Jesus saved it. He gave Himself. Our prayers for the evangelization of the world are but a bitter irony so long as we only give of our superfluity, and draw back before the sacrifice of ourselves.

You can give without loving, but you cannot love without giving.

Jesus gave His life to love me, and despite what it costs me, I can think of no greater calling than to love someone else in the same way that Jesus loved me.

And I will very gladly spend and be spent for your souls; though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.
