We talk of the Second Coming; half the world has never heard of the first.

We talk of the Second Coming; half the world has never heard of the first.

The messengers of Jesus will be hated to the end of time. They will be blamed for all the division which rend cities and homes. Jesus and his disciples will be condemned on all sides for undermining family life, and for leading the nation astray; they will be called crazy fanatics and disturbers of the peace. The disciples will be sorely tempted to desert their Lord. But the end is also near, and they must hold on and persevere until it comes. Only he will be blessed who remains loyal to Jesus and his word until the end.
– Dietrich Bonhoeffer –
When the day of recompense comes, our only regret will be that we have done so little for Him, not that we have done too much.
– George Müller –
At the day of Doom men shall be judged according to their fruits. It will not be said then, did you believe? But, were you doers or talkers only?
– John Bunyan –
The apostolic [early] church thought more about the Second Coming of Jesus Christ than about death and heaven. The early Christians were looking, not for a cleft in the ground called a grave but for a cleavage in the sky called Glory.
– Alexander MacLaren –
Our faith looks backward to a crucified Savior. Our love looks upward to a crowned Savior. And our hope looks forward to a coming Savior.
– Adrian Rogers –
The devil wants to obscure the doctrine of the new earth. He doesn’t want people to look forward to being with Christ.
– Randy Alcorn –
May all the joy that the Lord has provided for His own be experienced by you and yours this season and until we see Him face to face.
– J. Vernon McGee –
“The form of this world is passing away”
1 Corinthians 7:31
Brethren, if you are ever so deeply taken up with any enjoyment that it takes away your love for prayer or for your Bible, or that it would frighten you to hear the cry, “The bridegroom comes” and you’d reply, “Has He come already?” then you are abusing this world.
– Robert Murray McCheyne –
