Fear of God is Wisdom – Thomas Watson

The fear of God is wisdom in that it makes us consider: “I considered my ways” (Psalm 119:59). A great part of wisdom lies in consideration. He who fears God considers how vain the world is, and therefore dares not love it; how short time is, and therefore dares not lose it; how precious salvation is, and therefore dares not neglect it.

Getting Use to the Dark – Vance Havner

They tell us now even in some evangelical circles that we ought to hobnob with Sodom and get chummy with Gomorrah in order to convert them … and these dear people are not turning the light on in Sodom, they’re just getting used to the dark.

The Lion of Judah Has Conquered the lion of hell – Leonard Ravenhill

Not many Christians today can forget the fact that the devil goeth about as a roaring lion, but we seem to have lost sight of the fact that the Lion of the tribe of Judah has defeated the roaring lion of hell, and therefore every anointed Samson or Gideon or church can also slay the lion of hell. Though wicked men are doing wickedly, God’s promise to us is that “the people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32).
