A Christianity that costs nothing is worth nothing – JC Ryle
There is a common, worldly kind of Christianity in this day, which many have, and think they have enough—a cheap Christianity which offends nobody, and requires no sacrifice—which costs nothing, and is worth nothing.

The Goodness of Godliness – Charles Ciepiel
1 Timothy 6:6 – “Now godliness with contentment is great gain.”
What is godliness? It’s similar to holiness (being set apart for God). It means living in such a way that pleases Him. O Lord, let the aim of my heart be to please You! What is contentment? It means being satisfied with what you have! If we have the Lord, His presence, and His smile … oh it feels so good! All the cracks of a broken life can be filled by Him! What is great gain? It means to make a profit. In this world we always look for an increase, and who would have thought it comes from ABOVE! In Proverbs it says, “The backslider in heart will be filled with his own ways, but a good man will be satisfied from above” (Prov 14:14). O Lord thank You for being my reward in this life, MY EXCEEDINGLY GREAT REWARD! I’m building my life on our relationship and nothing else.

Serious Meditation On Holy and Heavenly Truths – Thomas Brooks
Remember that it is not a hasty reading, but serious meditation on holy and heavenly truths, that makes them prove sweet and profitable to the soul. It is not the mere touching of the flower by the bee that gathers honey, but her abiding for a time on the flower that draws out the sweet. It is not he that reads most, but he that meditates most, that will prove to be the choicest, sweetest, wisest and strongest Christian.

Don’t Despair of the Future – JC Ryle
I do not despair of the future. God forbid that I should do so. I believe in the almighty power of God to deliver us, even in the darkest hour … what He has done in time in the past He may do again. For this let us all agree to pray. A praying, interceding people are the very backbone of the church.

Guidance Demands Obedience – Elisabeth Elliot
Does it make sense to pray for guidance about the future if we are not obeying in the thing that lies before us today? How many momentous events in Scripture depended on one person’s seemingly small act of obedience! Rest assured: Do what God tells you to do now, and, depend upon it, you will be shown what to do next.
