Discounting the Cross – Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Discounting the Cross – Martyn Lloyd-Jones

It is not surprising that the cross has been discounted by modern theologians; it is because they have started with the love of God without His holiness.

Always respond to every impulse to pray – Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Always respond to every impulse to pray – Martyn Lloyd-Jones

Always respond to every impulse to pray. I would make an absolute law of this – always obey such an impulse. Where does it come from? It is the work of the Holy Spirit; it is a part of the meaning of “Work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure” (Phil 2:12-13). This often leads to some of the most remarkable experiences in the life of the minister. So never resist it, never postpone it, never push it aside because you are busy. Give yourself to it, yield to it; and you will find not only that you have not been wasting time with respect to the matter with which you are dealing but that actually it has helped you greatly in that respect … Such a call to prayer must never be regarded as a distraction; always respond to it immediately, and thank God if it happens to you frequently.

Pray and Pray and Pray – RA Torrey

Pray and Pray and Pray – RA Torrey

Do not just begin to pray and pray a little while and throw up your hands and quit; but pray and pray and pray until God bends the heavens and comes down.

Jesus is our Peace – Nathan Johnson

Jesus is our Peace – Nathan Johnson

(Peace is) not a feeling. It’s not an emotion. It’s not a “pill” that God gives us. …When we ask God for peace … He gives us Himself, for He is our peace (Ephesians 2:14).

Lost people matter to God, and so they must matter to us.

Go into the public assembly with a design to strike, and persuade some souls there, into repentance and salvation. Go to open blind eyes, to unstop deaf ears, to make the lame walk, to make the foolish wise, to raise those that are dead in trespasses and sins to a Heavenly and Divine life, and to bring guilty rebels to return to the love and obedience of their Maker, by Christ Jesus the great Reconciler, that they may be pardoned and saved. Go to diffuse the saviour of Christ and His gospel through a whole assembly and to allure souls to partake of His grace and glory.

All I know is that when I pray, coincidences happen; and when I don’t pray, they don’t happen.
