God’s Nature

Union With Christ – JC Ryle

Nothing will do then but real heart-union with Christ. Christ interceding for us at God’s right hand; Christ known and believed as our Priest, our Physician, our Friend. Christ alone can rob death of its sting and enable us to face sickness without fear. He alone can deliver those who through fear of death are in bondage. I say to everyone who wants advice; be acquainted with Christ. If ever you would have hope and comfort on the bed of sickness, be acquainted with Christ. Seek Christ. Apply to Christ.

Jesus Cannot Be Understood Apart from the Cross – T. Austin-Sparks

It is of far-reaching importance and vital consequence to recognize that the Person of our Lord cannot really be known and understood apart from the Cross. It is equally of consequence to realize that the Cross is only really understood and adequately appreciated when the Person of Christ is discerned. These two work hand-in-hand and are mutually dependent.

God Provides Workers – Andrew Murray

Wherever there is complaint of a lack of workers or of competent helpers for God’s work, prayer holds the promise for their supply. There is no work for God where He is not ready and able to provide workers for it. It may take time and importunity, but Christ’s command to ask the Lord of the harvest is the pledge that the prayer will be heard: “I tell you, he will get up and give him as much as he needs” (Luke 11:8)

No Combat, No Victory – Richard Sibbes

There can be no victory where there is no combat. The victory lieth not upon us but upon Christ, who hath taken upon him, as to conquer for us, so to conquer in us. Let us not look so much who are our enemies, as who is our Judge and Captain; not what they threaten, but what He promiseth.

The Way of Faithfulness – Oswald Chambers

Watch where Jesus went. The one dominant note in His life was to do His Fathers will. His is not the way of wisdom or success, but the way of faithfulness.

Great is The Faithfulness – Thomas Chisolm

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father, there is no shadow of turning with Thee; thou changest not, Thy compassions, they fail not, as Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be

What is Faith – Oswald Chambers

“Above all, taking the shield of faith.” Faith is unbreakable confidence in the personality of God, not in His power. There are some things over which we may lose faith if we have confidence in God’s power only. There is so much that looks like the mighty power of God that is not.

We must have confidence in God over and above everything He may do, and stand in confidence that His character is unsullied. Faith stands all tests – “Though He slay me, yet will I trust in Him.” When we take the shield of faith, none of these things can get through without breaking the shield. We are protected by the covering shield.
