Revival

Revival Is – James A. Stewart

Revival is …

  • Revival is … oneness of the membership in the mystical, supernatural body of Christ, delivered from denominational bigotry
  • Revival is the saints of God agonizing on behalf of lost souls going to hell
  • Revival is the people of God living in the power of an ungrieved, unquenched Spirit
  • Revival is the child of God desperately in love with his glorious Savior and Lord
  • Revival is living the Christ life in the home
  • Revival is the heathen saying, “The Lord hath done great things for them” (Psa. 126:2)
  • Revival is the Church of God as a conquering army putting to rout the hosts of hell
  • Revival is torrents of living water flowing out of the individual believer
  • Revival is the beauty of holiness adorning the saints
  • Revival is the recognition of the ministry of insignificant members of the body, and deliverance from idol worship of the more prominent members who are in the limelight
  • Revival is the people of God constrained, gripped, overmastered, and overwhelmed by the love of Christ, so that they are feverishly restless to win souls for Christ

The Creeping Wilderness that Takes Over – AW Tozer

The neglected heart will soon be a heart overrun with worldly thoughts; the neglected life will soon become a moral chaos; the church that is not jealously protected by mighty intercession and sacrificial labors will before long become the abode of every evil bird and the hiding place for unsuspected corruption. The creeping wilderness will soon take over that church that trusts in its own strength and forgets to watch and pray.

Fresh Endeavor of Evangelism – AJ Gordon

Whenever, in any century, whether in a single heart or in a company of believers, there has been a fresh effusion of the Spirit, there has followed inevitably a fresh endeavor in the work of evangelizing the world.”

Need of Revival in the Spiritual Life – Andrew Murray

“There is need of a great revival of spiritual life, of truly fervent devotion to our Lord Jesus, of entire consecration to His service. It is only in a church in which this spirit of revival has at least begun, that there is any hope of radical change in the relation of the majority of our Christian people to mission work.” –

Laying Bare the Evils of the Age – Horatius Bonar

Someone, then, must undertake the ungracious task of probing and laying bare the evils of the age; for men must not be allowed to congratulate themselves that all is well. If others will not, he will. If others shrink from the obloquy of such a work, he will not. He loves the age too well; he loves his nation too well; he loves his fellow-men too well. They may upbraid him; they may call him a misanthropist, or a prophet of evil; they may ascribe his warnings to the worst of motives, such as pride, or arrogance, or self-esteem, or malice, or envy; but he will give no heed to these unjust insinuations. He will prefer being thus misunderstood and maligned, to allowing men to precipitate themselves upon a ruin which they see not. Rather than that they should perish, he will allow his own good name to be spoken against. He will risk every thing, even the hatred of brethren, rather than withhold the warning.
