The Devil Trembles at Prayer – RA Torrey

When the devil sees a man or woman who really believes in prayer, who knows how to pray, and who really does pray, and, above all, when he sees a whole church on its face before God in prayer, “he trembles” as much as he ever did, for he knows that his day in that church or community is at an end.

Satan Has Little Need to Fear Most Preaching – A. Reavis

Despite the atrociousness of it, Satan really does have “little cause to fear most preaching.” Most preaching in the modern church is completely devoid of unction. Pastors are too busy playing golf or racquetball to bother spending time on their knees. No wonder some pastors I’ve heard can more readily quote Dr. Laura then bible passages pertaining to prayer. It’s disastrous. Satan need not fear under those conditions.

Darkest Century in History, Unless … – Gene Edwards

It is my studied judgment that some future generation will deem this to be the darkest century, in spiritual depth and spiritual experience, in church history – that is, unless something very radical happens along… soon.

Cowards Never Won Heaven – William Gurnall

Cowards never won heaven. Do not claim that you are begotten of God and have His royal blood running in your veins unless you can prove your lineage by this heroic spirit: to dare to be holy in spite of men and devils.

The Lion of Judah Has Conquered the lion of hell – Leonard Ravenhill

Not many Christians today can forget the fact that the devil goeth about as a roaring lion, but we seem to have lost sight of the fact that the Lion of the tribe of Judah has defeated the roaring lion of hell, and therefore every anointed Samson or Gideon or church can also slay the lion of hell. Though wicked men are doing wickedly, God’s promise to us is that “the people that do know their God shall be strong and do exploits” (Daniel 11:32).

Satan is Joining Churches – Vance Havner

Satan is not fighting churches; he is joining them. He does more harm by sowing tares than by pulling up wheat. He accomplishes more by imitation than by outright opposition.
