True Prayer Must Be Aflame – EM Bounds

Love is kindled in a flame, and ardency is its life. Flame is the air which true Christian experience breathes. It feeds on fire … True prayer MUST be aflame.

Prayer With Power That Never Tiers – EM Bounds

He prays not at all who does not press his plea. Our praying needs to be pressed and pursued with an energy that never tires, a persistency which will not be denied, and a courage that never fails.

All Who Call On God – Martin Luther

All who call on God in true faith, earnestly from the heart, will certainly be heard, and will receive what they have asked and desired.

The Backwards Reality of the Gospel – AW Tozer

A real Christian is an odd number, anyway. He feels supreme love for the One whom he has never seen; talks with familiarly every day to Someone he cannot see; expects to go to heaven on the virtue of Another; empties himself in order to be full; admits he is wrong so he can be declared right; goes down in order to get up; is strongest when he is weakest; richest when he is poorest and happiest when he feels the worst. He dies so he can live; forsakes in order to have; gives away so he can keep; sees the invisible; hears the inaudible’ and knows that which passeth understanding.

Praying for Revival – AW Tozer

Have you noticed how much praying for revival has been going on of late—and how little revival has resulted? I believe the problem is that we have been trying to substitute praying for obeying, and it simply will not work. To pray for revival while ignoring the plain precept laid down in Scripture is to waste a lot of words and get nothing for our trouble. Prayer will become effective when we stop using it as a substitute for obedience.
